Changing Minds 2016 Film Series

As of May 2016, the film series has been postponed until further notice. Please check this page often or call WCSC’s main office/Crisis Center for information on when the series will resume. We thank you for your support and understanding.

There are many factors related to gender-based violence and discrimination that affect us all. We must communicate openly on the challenges we face, for positive, lasting change in our community. The Changing Minds 2016 Film Series is an interactive project featuring movies that address gender-based violence, discrimination and the connected issues of domestic and dating violence and sexual assault.  We examine the cultural and societal factors that perpetuate them in our local and global communities through open panel discussions.

Admission is free and the screenings will be held at the Innovative Atrium Conference Room, 4006 Est. Diamond, Sunny Isles. Our schedule of 2016 screenings:

  • Women’s History: Miss Representation – March 31st
  • LGBTQ Awareness: Straightlaced: How Gender’s Got Us All Tied Up
  • Domestic Violence Awareness: Voices Heard Sisters Unseen
  • Human Rights: Girl Rising

Let’s Talk About It.

We thank everyone for attending the screening of Miss Representation for Women’s History Month.

We invite you to watch these thought-provoking films and share your thoughts on these important challenges during the panel discussions. We especially invite high school and college students to come and participate in these community events. We want to hear from you!

Contact Debra Benjamin or Sheelene Gumbs at WCSC’s Crisis Center – (340)773-9272, for more information on this series.
