Sojourner House Receives $20,000 Grant from The Mary Kay Foundation

With nearly 600 domestic violence shelters from across the country applying for The Mary Kay Foundation (TMKF) shelter grants, our  shelter, Sojourner House, has been named a 2017 recipient!

Sojourner House has received a $20,000 unrestricted grant to further the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix’s efforts to combat domestic violence and provide rehabilitation services on St. Croix. The funding will be used to assist with general operating support for the Shelter, including client assistance, and the purchase of gas and maintenance of the shelter vehicle, buildings and property.

WCSC housed 23 victims and survivors and their children in Sojourner House during 2017. Over 780 victims of domestic violence were provided with assistance from January to September 2017.

Visit our “How You Can Help” pages for information on actions to end domestic violence and support positive change for victims and survivors in our community.

We thank the Mary Kay Foundation for partnering with us to empower survivors in transforming their lives.

The Mary Kay Foundation was created in 1996, and its mission is two-fold: to fund research of cancers affecting women and to help prevent domestic violence while raising awareness of the issue. The Mary Kay Foundation has awarded $70.7 million to shelters and programs addressing domestic violence prevention and cancer researchers and related causes throughout the United States.
