Volunteer Victim Advocate Application
The next Volunteer Victim Advocate training will begin in September 2013. In order to be certified, volunteers must:
- be 18 years of age or older
- commit to complete the six-week victim advocate training
- commit to a one-year internship as an advocate-in-training
Volunteer advocates are trained on many issues, including domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, legal aspects, crisis intervention, medical aspects and community resources. Practical training techniques for offering support to victims in crisis are also covered. Workshops with various professionals from local service agencies, including V.I. Police Department, Legal Services and the Department of Human Services are also conducted.
Advocates must drive their own vehicles for duty on-periods. Please contact WCSC’s main office at (340)773-9272, if you have any questions or require additional information.
Your commitments help us to help those who need it most. We cannot do what we do without you. Thank you.
