Karen began her board membership in 2015. She also serves on the Fundraising Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. Karen is the program director for a nonprofit perinatal center.

Venné Williams

Venné Williams, PT, DPT, serves on the Finance and Membership Ad Hoc Committees. Dr. Williams is a practicing orthopedic therapist, and a physical therapist in the community.

Melbourne Adams

Captain Adams is a retired member of the U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department. He also serves on the Board Development and Fundraising committees. Melbourne has volunteered with WCSC in various capacities since its creation.

Claudette Anderson

Claudette is a Certified Public Accountant, who has held accounting positions in the V.I. government, public accounting firms and in private industry. Claudette has been a WCSC supporter for many years.

Carol Battuello

Carol is a co-founder of WCSC, and a retired administrator. She continues to be an avid supporter of our mission and a participant at events.

Lisa Coates

Lisa is a long-time supporter of WCSC's mission, through our major fundraisers. She is a personal chef and owner of Cafe Christine Bistro in Christiansted.

Yemaya R. Jones

Yemaya is a well-known local artist and a fabric designer. She has been a WCSC supporter for many years, particularly with our art fundraisers.

Claire Roker

Claire worked for the legislative branch of the Virgin Islands Government before her retirement. She is a long-time supporter of WCSC's mission, from financial support to acting as a community ambassador.

Aisha Webster

Aisha is a volunteer victim advocate with WCSC, and a former employee. She also currently serves on the Finance Committee and the Fundraising Committee. Aisha is the service manager for a local business firm.

Clema is responsible for overall management and is our chief spokesperson. She sets annual goals and objectives, and implements policies.

Director, Crisis Intervention/ Bilingual Counselor

Josefina is our bilingual Spanish-speaking crisis counselor and supervises the counseling staff.

Bernice Kight

Office/hr Manager

Bernice coordinates administrative support–including supervision of staff, maintenance and repairs for all locations, ordering of supplies, records maintenance and related services.

Fiscal Officer

Handles overall accounting and finance functions, and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of WCSC’s financial information. Also works with the executive director on the organization’s annual budget. 

Sheelene Gumbs

Crisis Counselor

Sheelene provides advocacy, crisis intervention and other supportive services for people impacted by violence, including assistance with action planning.

Brenda Lewis

Case Manager

Brenda provides crisis intervention and supportive services to the residents of Sojourner House, including court advocacy and action planning.

Judy Fyfield

Childcare Provider

Judy provides on-site childcare services for the youth residing at Sojourner House shelter while their parents work, go to school or keep appointments.

Swinda Hall-Daley

Shelter Night Manager

Swinda oversees the evening, weekend and holiday operations of Sojourner House, WCSC’s emergency shelter.

Child Counselor

Lis provides crisis assessment, intervention and emotional support to child survivors of violence, including addressing their emergency needs.

Transitional Housing Case Manager

Temara manages our Transitional Housing Program, including securing temporary housing and providing case management for victims and survivors.

Front Desk Client Navigator

Katherine greets clients and visitors, handles incoming calls, performs general administrative tasks and assists with special projects.

Thrift Stores Manager

Karlean is responsible for daily operations and administration in Closet To Closet, Shabby Chic Corner and The Home Store.

Syretta Fleming


Syretta’s responsibilities include recording daily financial transactions, assisting with payroll preparation and tax reporting.
