Clema S. Lewis

Executive Director

Clema is responsible for overall management and is our chief spokesperson. She sets annual goals and objectives, and implements policies.

Carolyn Forno

Assistant Director

Carolyn manages the Crisis Center administrative staff and is responsible for fiscal operations. She also oversees capital improvement projects.

Josefina Cruz

Director, Crisis Intervention/Bilingual Counselor

Josefina is our bilingual Spanish-speaking crisis counselor and supervises the counseling staff.

Susan Diverio

Director, education programs

Sue is responsible for operations at the Alice Pfaelzer Children’s Center, including career exploration and volunteer service programs for youth.

Carolyn Williamson

Thrift Stores Manager

Carolyn is responsible for daily operations and administration of Closet To Closet, Shabby Chic Corner and The Home Store.

Sheelene Gumbs

Crisis Counselor

Sheelene provides advocacy, crisis intervention and other supportive services for people impacted by violence, including assistance with action planning.

Brenda Lewis

Case Manager

Brenda provides crisis intervention and supportive services to the residents of Sojourner House, including court advocacy and action planning.

Judy Fyfield

Childcare Provider

Judy provides on-site childcare services for the children residing at Sojourner House Shelter while their parents work, go to school or keep appointments.

Temara Honore

Transitional Housing Case Manager

Temara manages our Transitional Housing Program, including securing temporary housing and providing case management for survivors.

Lavonne Wise

Fundraising coordinator

Lavonne, our primary liaison with donors, develops our annual fundraising plans, with the Executive Director. She is also in charge of our major fundraisers.

Kaysha Rivera

Receptionist

Kaysha greets clients and visitors, handles incoming calls, performs general administrative tasks and assists with special projects.

Debra Benjamin

Communications Coordinator

Debra’s work includes developing WCSC’s messaging, marketing of our mission, vision and efforts, and management of our online presence.

Elisabeth Stewart

Child Counselor

Lis provides crisis assessment, intervention and emotional support to child survivors of violence, including addressing their emergency needs.

Sharon Benjamin

Shabby Chic Corner Coordinator

Sharon handles retail operations, including organizing donations, sales and displays in our “thrift boutique” inside Closet To Closet.

Anibal handles retail operations, including sales, organizing donations and arranging displays in our home goods store.

Shelter Night Manager

Swinda oversees the evening, weekend and holiday operations of Sojourner House.

Karen Hunt,
President

Karen began her board membership in 2015. She also serves on the Fundraising Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. Karen is the program director for a nonprofit perinatal center.

Carolyn merritt,
Vice President

Dr. Carolyn Merritt is also a member of the Finance Committee and the Strategic Planning/Bylaws Committee. Carolyn is a board-certified dermatologist, with a practice in Christiansted.

Secretary

Aisha is a volunteer victim advocate with WCSC, and a former employee. She also currently serves on the Finance Committee and the Fundraising Committee. Aisha is the service manager for a local business firm.

Venné Williams,
treasurer

Venné Williams, PT, DPT, has been a board member for three years. She also serves on the Finance and Membership Ad Hoc Committees. Dr. Williams is a practicing orthopedic therapist, and a physical therapist in the community.

Melbourne Adams,
director

Captain Adams is a retired member of the U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department. He also serves on the Board Development and Fundraising committees. Melbourne has volunteered with WCSC in various capacities since its creation.

Claudette Anderson,
director

Claudette is a Certified Public Accountant for the State of New York, with a reciprocity certificate in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Claudette has been a supporter of our mission for many years.

Susan is in her third term of board service. She is a retired communications and fundraising executive. Susan also serves as the chairperson of our Fundraising Committee, and as member of the Strategic Planning/Bylaws and Board Development committees.

Shannan is a new board member. She is a member of our major fundraiser volunteer committee. Shannan is a registered nurse

Lisa Coates,
director

Lisa is a new board member. She is the owner of Cafe Christine Bistro in Frederiksted. Lisa is a longtime supporter of our mission and a special supporter of our major fundraisers.

Kristin Dare,
director

Kristin is a new board member. She is the owner of Dare Yoga. Kristin is a member of our major fundraiser volunteer committee.

Lisa is an attorney for the legislative branch of the Virgin Islands government. She has supported WCSC’s mission in many ways for more than 20 years.

Yemaya Rice-Jones,
director

Carol is a founding member of WCSC. She has been a volunteer victim advocate, a trainer for victim advocates and has served on many committees over the years. Carol is also a social worker for hospice patients.

Claire Roker,
director

Claire worked for the legislative branch of the Virgin Islands Government before her retirement. She is a long-time supporter of WCSC's mission, from financial support to acting as a community ambassador.

Aisha is a volunteer victim advocate with WCSC, and she is a former employee. She is the service manager for a local business firm.

Carol is a founding member of WCSC. She has been an active volunteer victim advocate for many years and plays a very active role in advocate training. Carol is also a social worker for hospice patients.
