Earth Day

Earth Day is the annual celebration of the environmental movement. In 1970, according to EarthDay.org, about 20 million people in the U.S gathered together to demand action for the protection of the planet. Since then, activists around the world have gathered each year to mark the day.  Visit earthday.org for a complete listing of events happening all over the world in recognition of this day. This year’s theme is, Invest In Our Planet: “When we Invest In Our Planet together, we are supporting healthy, happy, and wealthy communities worldwide.” Take an Earth Day Quiz to test your know-how: What do you know about our planet?

It’s up to us to save our planet for current and future generations. Do what you can to lower your carbon footprint by reducing waste, recycling and reusing by giving new life to salvageable items. Donate to a local nonprofit organization that accepts clothing, home goods and other gently used or new items that you can no longer use. Visit our thrift store, Closet To Closet – 15 Peter’s Rest in Christiansted, to donate gently-used or new clothing or home goods or to purchase at deeply discounted prices.
