National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month
January is recognized internationally as the month focused on raising awareness around human trafficking, also known as modern slavery.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reports that globally:
- women are 55 to 60 percent of detected trafficked persons
- children are 27 percent of detected trafficked persons
