National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims

Always Remember. Never Forget.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

–Richard Puz, Author

Join us for a special community event in solidarity with the surviving loved ones of those whose lives have been ended through violence. The USVI Department of Agriculture is our community sponsor for this special event on September 25 – the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims (NDRMV). The unveiling of the St. Croix Remembrance Quilt by its creators, Aida Almestica-Franco and family, will be featured.

The event will be held at the Department of Agriculture’s Fairgrounds, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Attendance is limited to 50 persons. Mask wearing and physical distancing will be required, to maintain health and safety guidelines against the spread of COVID-19.

NDRMV was designated by the U.S. Congress in 2007, to recognize the impact of homicides on surviving loved ones and communities.

For 14 years we have commemorated NDRMV here on St. Croix, with events and activities in support of surviving loved ones, including opportunities to express their feelings and bring more attention to the violence that plagues our local and global communities. Check our NDRMV.VI page for details about this year’s event.

The Wall of Remembrance, a visual presentation of the names of murder victims on St. Croix since 1974, is updated annually and presented at our in-person events and on our Facebook and YouTube channels.

Visit our NDRMV.VI Facebook page, for more information on National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims events on St. Croix, and to post memorials to your loved ones.
