Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s theme for SAAM 2020 is “I Ask.” Remember to wear the color teal during SAAM, in support of victims and survivors of sexual violence and to help raise awareness around these crimes.
Consent is defined as asking for permission before doing something or agreeing that something can happen. Making consent an ongoing and essential part of communication in healthy relationships is one very good way to ensure that partners feel respected and safe.
Sexual assault is never the victim’s fault. If you or someone you know has been raped or sexually abused in another way, our advocacy, programs and services are available for you, free of charge. We offer 24-hour crisis intervention through our hotline, which is always answered by a person, no recordings. Call us at 340.773.9272, to reach a caring advocate or staff member. Remember, USVI Says NO MORE sexual violence!
We are here for you. We believe you.
